The VCP(/M) V-Post Band Clamp uses a stainless steel band to contact a mounted component over an extended area. A bronze knob at the bottom of the clamp can be used to tighten or loosen the clamp for mounting purposes. Once a component is securely mounted, the band can be locked in place using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key on the locking screw located on the side of the post. These clamps feature a single band and a 0.60" (15.2 mm) long V-block, making them ideal for components with only a short section that can be clamped. The body of the clamp is a Ø1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) stainless steel post with a 2.10" (53.2 mm) long mounting surface, which can be integrated with Ø1/2" optical post assemblies, Ø1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) post holders, and accessories. A 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) mounting hole can be found on the bottom of the bronze knob for additional mounting options. These clamps are best used for holding cylindrical objects such as Fiber Collimation Packages, Laser Diode Modules, and HeNe Lasers. For objects that have unusual shapes or are easily marred post-mountable V-clamps, including VBC1(/M) and VBC2(/M) band clamps, are recommended.

Each VCP(/M) V-post band clamp includes a VCPL55 band, which is 139.7 mm (5.50") long and allows for the mounting of components with diameters from Ø29.0 mm (Ø1.14") to Ø37.0 mm (Ø1.46"). Four alternative stainless steel bands, as well as a replacement for the VCPL55 band, are available separately below with the minimum and maximum diameter for each band given in the table above. For securing objects with diameters outside of the Ø12.0 mm (Ø0.47") to Ø53.0 mm (Ø2.09") range, other V-mounts are available.

The stainless steel band of the VCP(/M) band clamp can easily be exchanged with one of the other available bands to clamp both larger or smaller components. To do so, make sure that the clamp is not locked by loosening the locking screw on the side of the post with a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key. Loosen the band by turning the knurled bronze knob at the base of the clamp counterclockwise, until the captive band interchange screw is visible through the release hole near the top of the clamp. Using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key, unscrew the band interchange screw and remove the band. Replace the band with one of the desired size and bend it such that the holes on either end of the band are aligned with each other. Insert the ends of the band into the top of the clamp, aligning the holes with the band interchange screw and then secure the band in place by tightening the screw. The band should feel loose when properly engaged by the interchange screw.
