Thorlabs Announces Release of Japanese Website Translation

Newton, NJ – August 30, 2011. Thorlabs, an international manufacturer of photonics equipment, announced today the release of a Japanese translation of its website. The release follows a year-long endeavor to translate all the content found on Thorlabs’ nearly 1000 live family pages.

Since 2007, Thorlabs has been printing a Japanese version of its catalog to better serve customers within East Asia. “The newly released website translation is a natural extension of Thorlabs’ desire to enhance the buying experience for our Japanese customers,” says Tetsuya Nakai, who heads up Thorlabs’ facility in Tokyo, Japan.

The Thorlabs Japan office employs 30 individuals, many of whom have extensive experience with optical fiber devices. The office provides technical support assistance between the hours of 9 AM and 6 PM, JST. An onsite demonstration showroom also offers customers hands-on interaction with a broad range of Thorlabs’ system-level products such as Optical Coherence Tomography systems and beam diagnostic tools.

“This translation is one of several exciting changes for our Tokyo office,” says Nakai. “We are also planning to open a small warehouse at this location in January 2012, allowing our Asian customers to enjoy same-day shipping for stocked items.”
