这些平凹透镜由N-SF11玻璃制成,前后表面上都镀有宽带(350 - 700 nm)增透膜。这些膜层与未镀膜的相比能够显著的降低每个表面4%的损耗(详情请参见曲线标签)。
N-SF11玻璃是经过RoHS认证的SF11玻璃,由于其对生物降解的惰性,可以抵抗自然界存在的化学物质,例如碱和酸,因而常用于苛刻的环境下。未镀膜的N-SF11波透过长范围为420 nm至2.3 μm,与N-BK7的透过波长范围相比有轻微的红移。未镀膜的N-BK7(符合RoHS标准的BK7)波长范围为350 nm至2.0 μm。由于N-SF11玻璃的阿贝数低于N-BK7玻璃(25.76 相比于64.17),其色散更加严重。
和所有的平凹透镜一样,这些透镜的焦距是负数,可以用于发散平行光束。在这种情况下,透镜的曲面应该正对光源,从而最小化球差。此外,这种透镜也可以用来补偿光学系统中其它透镜引入的球差。

安装高曲率光学元件
Thorlabs的卡环用于将未安装的光学元件固定在透镜套管或光学元件安装座中。这些卡环可通过兼容的扳手固定。对于平面或低曲率的光学元件,我们提供由阳极氧化铝材制造的标准卡环,尺寸范围从Ø5 mm到Ø4英寸,对于高曲率光学元件,我们提供Ø1/2英寸、Ø1英寸和Ø2英寸的特厚卡环。
特厚卡环具有几种特性,有助于安装高曲率光学元件,如非球面透镜、短焦距平凸透镜和聚光镜。如右边视频所示,使用标准卡环固定高曲率透镜时,扳手的导向法兰会碰到透镜的表面,可能划伤光学元件。而且,这种接触会在扳手与卡环之间形成间隙,造成卡环无法拧紧。而特厚卡环能够为扳手提供必要的间隔,既能固定透镜,又不会接触光学元件的表面。
