Press Release Detail:
Thorlabs Introduces New Multi-Channel Optical Power Meter

Newton, NJ, May 1, 2002 Thorlabs Inc., a leading manufacturer of innovative photonics products, today announced the introduction of a Multi-channel Optical Power Meter. This unique test instrument is a stand-alone unit that offers flexibility through the use of 8 independent optical input channels. Utilizing an RS-232 interface or NI Data Acquisition Card lets the unit perform variable high-speed operations while providing concise and accurate results. Each Optical input is sampled with an internal 16-bit analog to digital converter to increase the rate of data transfer of the overall unit.

The OPM8FC Multi-Channel Optical Power Meter features 8 FC optical input channels with NIST traceable Calibration, telecom wavelength range of 1300nm-1600nm, switchable operating line voltage, and device drivers with executable programs to ensure complete compatibility.

Ed Church, a Thorlabs Engineer, said of the OPM8FC, "This power meter is a general purpose tool that will help our customers accomplish a diverse range of goals."

Other features include an auxiliary port, which provides access to National Instruments DAQ card pins, configurable input and output digital triggers and internal EEPROM unit.
