Thorlabs Acquires Radians Innova AB, Gothenburg, Sweden

Newton, New Jersey, January 22, 2004 - Thorlabs, Inc., a manufacturer of innovative photonics products, announces they have acquired Radians Innova, AB, Gothenburg, Sweden. Radians Innova is a leading OEM provider of modular continuously tunable laser sources for optical telecom, sensing, and spectroscopy applications. The Radians family of products is designed to offer an unmatched combination of features; continuous high speed tuning, wavelength stability, and a rugged industrial package that allows 24/7 operation in the harshest of environments.

Alex Cable, President and CEO of Thorlabs, said of the new acquisition, “The Radians Tunable ECL product line is an ideal complement to our rapidly expanding line of test and measurement equipment. The purchase adds another critical component to our product line. In my recent visits to the Radians facility in Gothenburg, I was impressed with the sophisticated group of professionals - they stand ready to make a large contribution to the Thorlabs portfolio of products.”

Radians Innova, group will remain based in Gothenburg and will serve as the central hub for Thorlabs’ continued expansion within the Nordic countries, as well as the R & D center for the expansion of the tunable ECL product line.
