Two Flexure Cage Plates in a 30 mm Cage System
Features
- Mount and Center Ø1/2", Ø1", or Ø2" Optics within 30 mm or 60 mm Cage Systems
- Nylon-Tipped Setscrew Retention Mechanism
These cage mounts can be used to mount and center Ø1/2", Ø1", or Ø2" optics into our 30 mm cage systems or 60 mm cage systems. Each mount features a double-bore for stable contact and uses a top-located nylon-tipped setscrew to retain the optic.
Our Standard Cage Plates, available in Ø1/2", Ø1", and Ø2" double-bore sizes, use setscrews to secure Ø6 mm cage rods. As additional options for Ø1" optic mounting, we also offer the CP06F(/M) Dual Flexure Cage Plate, which locks onto cage rods using a flexure on each arm, and the DCP1A Drop-In, Flexure Cage Mount. The arms of the CP06F Cage Plate flex slightly to compensate for rod misalignment when inserted into a cage system, reducing cage plate binding. The DCP1A features a drop-in design that inserts diagonally into an assembled cage system and snaps onto the rods using lockable flexure clamps.

CP14 mounting a Ø1/2" mirror in a cage system.
- Double Bore for Ø1/2" Optics
- Directly Mounts Optical Components Within a 30 mm Cage System Assembly
- Post Mountable via 8-32 (M4) Tapped Hole
- Nylon-Tipped Locking Setscrew
This CP14(/M) Cage Plate allows a Ø1/2" mirror or other optical component to be aligned in our 30 mm cage system. The double-bored mounting area provides two lines of stable contact to hold the optic. It features a top-located, nylon-tipped setscrew, which can be fastened with a 5/64" (2.0 mm) balldriver or hex key to secure the optic in place. The optic must be at least 0.15" (3.8 mm) thick in order to be properly mounted in the cage plate. The cage plate also has a bottom-located 8-32 (M4) tap for post mounting. Each cage rod through hole is accompanied by a side-located locking setscrew, which can be secured using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) balldriver or hex key.

CP35 Cage Plate Mounting a Ø1" Lens in Fiber Focusing Application
- Double Bore for Ø1" Optics
- Directly Mounts Optical Components Within a 30 mm Cage System Assembly
- Post Mountable via 8-32 (M4) Tapped Hole
- Nylon-Tipped Locking Setscrew
This CP35(/M) Cage Plate allows a Ø1" mirror or other optical component to be aligned in our 30 mm cage system. Cage rod arms can flex to compensate for cage rod misalignment due to tolerance stacking.
- Self-Aligning Cage Rod Arms Eliminate Cage Plate Binding
- Double Bore for Ø1" Optics
- Directly Mounts Optical Components Within a 30 mm Cage System Assembly
- Post Mountable via 8-32 (M4) Tapped Hole
- Nylon-Tipped Locking Setscrew
The CP06F(/M) Flexure Cage Plate features a flexure arm design for locking onto 30 mm cage rods. This design compensates for the tolerance stacking effects common in cage systems, ensuring that the cage plate never binds or sticks within a constructed cage segment. The cage plate's orthogonal flexure arms remain rigid when handled, but will flex slightly to provide compensation for rod misalignment when installed within a constructed cage segment. This unique feature is illustrated in the diagram to the right. In contrast with the standard setscrew retention method of the CP35 Cage Plate, each CP06F arm clamps onto cage rods using a separate flexure clamp that increases holding force and cage plate rigidity.
This cage plate is 0.35" (8.9 mm) thick and provides a center-located Ø1" double bore for mounting a Ø1" optic at least 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick. The optic is retained by a nylon-tipped setscrew with a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex. The cap screw on each flexure cage rod through hole can be tightened using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key or Thorlabs' HKTS-5/64 Hex Key Thumbscrews.
The CP06F(/M) cage plate can be post-mounted via the 8-32 (M4) tapped hole on the bottom. We also offer the CP02F(/M) Cage Plate with Internal SM1 Threads.
- Directly Accepts a Ø2" (Ø50.8 mm) Optic at Least 0.27" (6.9 mm) Thick
- Mounts Optics Within a 60 mm Cage System Assembly
- Nylon-Tipped Setscrew Secures Optic
- 8-32 (M4) Tapped Hole for Mounting to Ø1/2" Posts
The LCP35(/M) Cage Plate features a Ø2.00" double bore which centers the optic. A nylon-tipped locking setscrew provides a third point of contact and secures optics at least 0.27" (6.9 mm) thick. Each cage rod through hole includes a side-located, 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex locking setscrew for securing the position of the LCP35(/M) within a 60 mm cage system. For additional convenience, an 8-32 (M4) tapped hole is provided for post mounting and OEM mounting applications. As with the LCP34/M shown at the top of the page, the LCP35/M also features a small dimple indicating it is a metric part.

The similarly designed DCP1 Cage Mount illustrates how to snap a diagonal drop-in mount into an existing 30 mm cage segment.
- Easy Insertion and Removal of a Ø1" Optic Within an Assembled 30 mm Cage System
- Flexure Lock Securely Clamps to Cage Rods
- Ø1" Double Bore with Nylon-Tipped Setscrew
The DCP1A Drop-In Cage Mount allow Ø1" optics to be easily inserted into or removed from an assembled 30 mm cage structure. The cage mount clamps to 30 mm cage rods across a diagonal, rather than to adjacent cage rods. To insert one of these mounts into a cage system, hold the mount diagonally and slide it between two cage rods, as illustrated in the photo to the right. Then twist the mount and snap it onto the cage rods before tightening the cap screw in each flexure clamp using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key (not included).
The DCP1A features a Ø1" double bore with a nylon-tipped 5/64" (2.0 mm) setscrew for securing optics at least 0.22" (5.6 mm) thick. The setscrew retention design allows optics to be easily removed from the cage mount for quick optic changes.
