Thorlabs' PR005(/M) Compact Rotation Stage provides precise, fine rotation for small optomechanical assemblies. While the locking screw is unlocked, the stage can be smoothly and continuously rotated by hand through a full 360°, measured by the 5° graduation marks on the side of the mount. The screw labeled ENGAGE FINE ADJUST can be tightened to prevent coarse movement and allow ±6° of fine adjustment via the 6-80 fine adjuster screw. Tightening the screw labeled LOCK prevents any movement of the stage. All three screws accept a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key or balldriver.

As shown in the drawing to the right, the rotating platform features one 8-32 (M4) tapped hole at its center, surrounded by eight 4-40 (M3) tapped holes. The stage attaches to an optical table or breadboard using the three 1/4" (M6) counterbored mounting holes.

The PR005(/M) stage has the same load capacity as the PR01(/M) high-precision rotation stage with a much smaller footprint.

Dear Sir or Madam, kindly provide information regarding the angular resolution of your fine hex adjuster in this setup, e.g. degrees of rotation per full rotation of the screw. Thank you in advance.

Hello, thank you for contacting Thorlabs. Unfortunately, we do not have a spec regarding the angular resolution per rotation of screw as it is not a constant value. This is because the contact point for the adjuster screw inside the stage moves on a radius.

Hi Thomas, thank you for contacting Thorlabs. While we do not have a formal spec for upside down loads, you can expect a similar load capacity as when the stage is mounted flat on a table. I have reached out to you directly to discuss your loading conditions further.

Rotation Mount and Stage Selection Guide

Thorlabs offers a wide variety of manual and motorized rotation mounts and stages. Rotation mounts are designed with an inner bore to mount a Ø1/2", Ø1", or Ø2" optic, while rotation stages are designed with mounting taps to attach a variety of components or systems. Motorized options are powered by a DC Servo motor, 2 phase stepper motor, piezo inertia motor, or an Elliptec™ resonant piezo motor. Each offers 360° of continuous rotation.
