The Thorlabs Mini-Series is designed to increase the number of optical elements that can be assembled within a limited space. This series offers all of the essential building blocks for miniature and OEM-level optomechanical assemblies. Also included in this series are post thread adapters used to interface our standard optic mounts to our Mini-Series Posts and Mini-Series Pedestal Pillar Posts.
The HW-KIT5 and HW-KIT5/M screw hardware kits have been introduced specifically to address the fastening requirements of our imperial and metric Mini-Series breadboards and components.

The socket in the thumbscrew for the MSRA90 is a bit to sloppy, this causes the wrench to bind in the socket.

Since this is a "new standard", please consider doing a better job in the main portion of the presentation of pointing out what the new standard actually is, i.e. the post size and threads.

#4-40 (M3) Tapped Holes on 1/2" (12.5 mm) Centers
Our miniature breadboard features #4-40 (M3) tapped holes on 1/2" (12.5 mm) centers, thereby significantly increasing the number of optical elements that can be assembled within a limited space. As a new feature, the locations of the four counterbored through holes have been repositioned so that each hole is located at 1" x 1" from the edge on the imperial optical breadboard and 25 mm x 25 mm from the edge of the metric optical breadboard, making these optical breadboards mountable to any of our standard breadboards.
This new series of miniature post holders features an attached swivel base, a spring loaded friction element that prevents the post from slipping down into the holder prior to final tightening, plus a design that allows the post to pass directly through the post holder. This last
feature provides for a maximum range of beam heights when assembling an optical system.
The MSR2 6mm slip-on post collar is a mini version of our popular R2 1/2" diameter post collar. It features a double-bore profile to provide a stable two-line contact, and a non-marring brass setscrew to ensure secure locking. Height adjustment is restricted while providing rotational freedom.
These Ø12mm diameter pedestal posts provide a solid mounting structure for our mini-series optical mounts.
These posts are made from a nominally non-magnetic 300 series stainless steel. The top and bottom of the posts have #4-40 (M3) tapped holes. A set screw is provided already mounted in the top of the post for connecting to our mini components.

These Mini-Series Right Angle Brackets are an ideal solution for constructing rigid assemblies with our Mini-Series components. They are fashioned after our popular AP90. Precision machined on six surfaces from a solid block of aluminum, these brackets are parallel and perpendicular to within 0.002" (0.05mm). These right angle brackets offer a generous array of 4-40 (M3) tapped holes, 4-40 (M3)counterbores, and 4-40 (M3) clearance slots.
Ideal for building compact structures that require a high degree of rigidity. The MSCB1 construction cube is tapped on all six surfaces allowing our MS-series mini posts to be attached to any surface.The MSCB2 has three mounting surfaces, each with a clearance hole that allows the assembly of three of our MS series posts. These cubes are machined from a solid block of aluminum on all six sides, parallel and perpendicular to within 0.002" (0.05mm).
This right angle post adapter is used to mount two of our new MS-Series
posts at right angles to each other. The adapter is double-bored to provide
two stable lines of contact between the mating post and adapter body.
This simple adapter is an essential building block for constructing optical
systems from our new family of miniature components.
Our universal Mini-Series Swiveling Post Clamp provides 360 degree continuous adjustment, allowing the user to position the post at any desired angle. The posts can be locked in this angle with a locking screw, and each ER through-hole is double-bored for two lines of stable, post-to-mount contact. The 2.5mm hex located on the thumbscrew, also found on the Mini-Series Holders, works well with a 5/64" hex key/balldriver.
Essential Building Blocks for Complex, Rigid Structures
This clamp provides coarse X-Y adjustment when building rigid 3D optomechanical assemblies. Each hole, aligned at a fixed 90 degrees, is double-bored for two lines of stable contact between the clamp and mating ER rods. The MSRA90 is also helpful for placement of an optic mount into a beam path where table mounting space below the path is not available.
Our MSCL series of mini-breadboard clamps have been fashioned in the same spirit as our popular CL series clamps. These versatile clamps provide excellent flexibility and secure clamping force for positioning components at random across our Mini-Breadboard.
